Built in 1872, Lambert Point Light served as a vital navigational aid guiding vessels through the busy Hampton Roads harbor and the Elizabeth River approach. The screwpile cottage-style lighthouse was characteristic of Chesapeake Bay designs, standing watch over one of the East Coast’s most strategic waterways. Decommissioned and no longer active, the light is not open to the public and cannot be climbed. It remains notable as a piece of Norfolk’s rich maritime heritage. The best photography opportunities come during golden hour, when warm light reflects off the surrounding water. Nearby, visitors can explore the Nauticus maritime museum, the Battleship Wisconsin, and the charming waterfront shops and restaurants along the Elizabeth River Trail.
