Standing at the mouth of the River Raisin on Lake Erie, Monroe Pier Light has guided mariners since 1849. This historic Michigan lighthouse served as a critical navigational aid for vessels entering Monroe’s once-bustling commercial harbor. Decommissioned and no longer active, the light remains a beloved local landmark.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it offers excellent photography opportunities from the nearby shoreline. Golden hour and winter ice formations along the pier create particularly striking compositions.

While visiting, explore the River Raisin National Battlefield Park, the only National Battlefield Park dedicated to the War of 1812, or stroll the waterfront at Sterling State Park, Michigan’s only state park on Lake Erie.
