Built in 1933, Mission Point Light stands at the tip of Old Mission Peninsula, marking the 45th parallel — the halfway point between the equator and the North Pole. This modest white wooden lighthouse replaced an earlier structure and continues to serve as an active navigational aid on Grand Traverse Bay.

The lighthouse is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. However, the surrounding grounds and beach offer excellent vantage points. Late afternoon provides the best photography light, with the bay as a stunning backdrop.
