Built in 1856 on the shores of Eureka, California, Humboldt Harbor Light was one of the earliest lighthouses on the rugged Northern California coast. It guided vessels through the treacherous entrance to Humboldt Bay, a critical lumber and supply port during the Gold Rush era. Now decommissioned, the lighthouse is no longer active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. The best photography opportunities come during golden hour, when fog rolls across the bay creating dramatic backdrops.
