Crisp Point Light

Crisp Point Light

Lake Superior · Michigan

Standing on the remote southern shore of Lake Superior in McMillan Township, Luce County, Michigan, Crisp Point Light has guided mariners since 1904. The original lighthouse replaced an earlier life-saving station, and after decades of neglect and shoreline erosion that claimed its keeper’s quarters, a dedicated preservation society stabilized the tower and surrounding grounds. The lighthouse remains active as a navigational aid but is not open to public climbing. Its isolated setting against Lake Superior’s vast horizon makes it a photographer’s dream, particularly at sunrise and during autumn color season. Nearby attractions include Tahquamenon Falls State Park and the Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum, both accessible via scenic Upper Peninsula backroads.
