Built in 1871, Colchester Reef Light originally stood on a dangerous reef in Lake Champlain before being relocated to the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont in 1952. This charming Second Empire-style lighthouse features a distinctive mansard roof and served as both a beacon and keeper’s residence during its active years.

Now decommissioned and closed to public climbing, the lighthouse remains a beloved architectural treasure. Visitors can admire its exterior while exploring the museum’s 39 historic buildings and extensive Americana collection.
