Cape Neddick Light, perched on a small rocky island off York, Maine, has guided mariners since 1879. Known locally as “Nubble Light,” this iconic lighthouse features a white cast-iron tower with a distinctive red-roofed keeper’s house that creates one of New England’s most photographed scenes.

While visitors cannot access the island or climb the tower, Sohier Park on the mainland offers excellent viewing platforms just 100 yards away. The best photography opportunities come at sunrise or during winter storms when waves crash dramatically against the rocks.

Nearby, explore York’s historic district, Long Sands Beach, or the cliff walks at Marginal Way in Ogunquit. The lighthouse remains an active navigation aid, its light visible for 13 nautical miles.
