Wertz’s Covered Bridge, also known as the Red Covered Bridge, spans Tulpehocken Creek in Reading, Pennsylvania. Built in 1867, this historic structure features a classic Burr arch truss design—a construction method combining wooden arches with traditional kingpost trusses for exceptional strength.

At over 200 feet, it ranks among Pennsylvania’s longest single-span covered bridges. The bridge remains open to traffic, carrying vehicles across the creek within the scenic grounds of Reading’s city park system.
