Montandon County, Pennsylvania

Montandon, Pennsylvania

One of Pennsylvania’s oldest surviving covered bridges, Rishel Covered Bridge dates to 1830, making it nearly two centuries old. The structure features a classic Burr arch truss design—a combination of a wooden arch and multiple kingpost trusses that provided exceptional strength for 19th-century spans.

Current Status: Temporarily closed to all traffic. Visitors can view and photograph the exterior but should not attempt to enter.

Visiting Tips: The bridge photographs beautifully from the creek banks below, especially during fall foliage season. Early morning light offers the best conditions. Check with local authorities for status updates before planning your visit, as restoration work may affect access.
