Rice Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area

Sprawling across 5,660 acres near Canton in Fulton County, Rice Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area has been drawing outdoor enthusiasts to central Illinois since 1945. Built around the shallow, marshy expanse of Rice Lake itself, this wildlife area sits within the Illinois River floodplain — a landscape shaped by seasonal water levels that creates some of the finest waterfowl habitat in the Midwest.
