Browns Park Recreation Area
Browns Park Recreation Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management, offers a rich tapestry of outdoor activities set in a remote valley along the Green River. Historically known as Brown’s Hole, it was once a hideout for outlaws like Butch Cassidy. Today, visitors can explore its historical significance at the John Jarvie Historic Ranch, enjoy excellent fly fishing opportunities, and traverse a network of equestrian and OHV trails.
Camping options include developed campgrounds as well as ample opportunities for dispersed camping throughout the area, allowing for a more rustic experience. Access to the park is primarily via well-maintained dirt roads, making it accessible for most vehicles, though high-clearance vehicles are recommended for some remote spots. Expect a mix of rolling hills, riverbanks, and expansive meadows, providing breathtaking views and diverse wildlife. The best time to visit is from late spring to early fall when temperatures are mild and water levels on the Green River are suitable for floating. Prepare for an adventure filled with history, scenic landscapes, and abundant recreation opportunities at Browns Park.
