Southwest Reef Light stands in Louisiana’s Atchafalaya Basin, built in 1859 to guide vessels through treacherous shallow waters. This hexagonal screwpile lighthouse served mariners for decades before being deactivated. Relocated from its original reef position, the structure now sits near the shore in Berwick, Louisiana, making it one of the few surviving inland screwpile lighthouses in the South.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it remains a compelling sight from the waterfront.
