Gasparilla Island Light stands at the southern tip of Gasparilla Island in Boca Grande, Florida. Built in 1932, this rear range light guided vessels through Boca Grande Pass into Charlotte Harbor for decades. The steel-skeleton tower replaced an earlier lighthouse and served until it was deactivated. Though no longer an active aid to navigation, the lighthouse remains a recognizable Boca Grande landmark. The tower is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb it, but it photographs beautifully from the surrounding beach areas. Golden hour and sunset provide the best light for photography. Nearby, visitors can explore Gasparilla Island State Park, fish the renowned Boca Grande Pass, or stroll the charming village shops and restaurants.
