St. Simons Island Light

Rising above the southern tip of St. Simons Island, Georgia, this historic lighthouse has guided mariners since 1810. The current tower, rebuilt in 1872 after Civil War destruction, stands 104 feet tall and remains an active navigational aid. Its attached keeper’s cottage now houses the Museum of Coastal History, offering exhibits on the island’s maritime heritage. The lighthouse is not open for public climbing, but the grounds and museum are worth a visit.
