Built in 1851, Price Creek Light is one of North Carolina’s oldest surviving river lighthouse structures, originally constructed to guide vessels along the Cape Fear River. The modest tower served as a critical navigation aid through the Civil War era, when Confederate forces utilized it strategically. Unlike the region’s taller coastal lighthouses, Price Creek’s compact design reflects its role as a river channel marker rather than an ocean beacon.

The lighthouse is not active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb it. It can be viewed and photographed from the waterfront. Golden hour offers the best light, with the river providing beautiful reflections.
