Built in 1854, Pungoteague Creek Light guided mariners through the shallow waters of Virginia’s Eastern Shore along Chesapeake Bay. This screwpile lighthouse served as a vital navigational aid for vessels navigating the creek’s entrance. The light was eventually decommissioned and is no longer active.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it remains a compelling subject for photographers. The best shots come during golden hour, when warm light reflects off the bay’s calm waters.
