Built in 1853 near Exmore, Virginia, this lighthouse once guided mariners through the treacherous waters of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. The original tower served as a critical navigational aid along the barrier islands before coastal erosion and shifting sands threatened the site. The light was eventually deactivated and is no longer an active aid to navigation.

The lighthouse is not open to the public, and visitors cannot climb the tower. However, it remains a compelling subject for photographers, with golden hour and early morning light offering the best conditions against the coastal backdrop.
