Rising from the shores of Ipswich, Massachusetts, this charming wooden lighthouse was built in 1867 to guide vessels through the treacherous Ipswich River channel. The structure served as part of a range light system, working in tandem with a rear light to help mariners navigate safely.

Though no longer active and closed to public climbing, the lighthouse remains a beloved local landmark. Its weathered wooden construction and coastal setting make it particularly photogenic during golden hour, especially at sunset when warm light bathes the structure.

Visitors can view the lighthouse from nearby Crane Beach, one of New England’s finest barrier beaches. The area offers excellent birdwatching at the adjacent Crane Wildlife Refuge and the historic town center features well-preserved colonial architecture.
