Rising from a rocky ledge at the outer edge of Boston Harbor, The Graves Light has guided mariners since 1905. This granite tower marks the dangerous Graves Ledge, named for Thomas Graves, a colonial-era trader. Its sturdy construction withstood the Great New England Hurricane of 1938, testament to its robust engineering.

The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid but is not open to public tours or climbing. Best photographed from boat tours during golden hour or from Winthrop’s shoreline at sunset when the light silhouettes dramatically against the sky.
