Perched on a barren granite outcrop in Penobscot Bay, Saddleback Ledge Light has guided mariners through treacherous Maine waters since 1839. This conical granite tower stands as one of the most isolated lighthouses on the Atlantic coast, accessible only by boat in calm conditions.

The light remains active and automated, warning vessels of the dangerous ledge. Visitors cannot climb or tour the lighthouse as it sits on a tiny, wave-swept rock with no public access.
