Egg Rock Light
Near Nahant · Massachusetts
Perched on a small rocky island in Frenchman Bay, Egg Rock Light has guided mariners since 1875. This distinctive red-roofed lighthouse sits just off the coast of Bar Harbor, making it one of the most photographed beacons in Acadia National Park’s waters.
The square wooden tower, painted white with its characteristic red roof, remains an active aid to navigation maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. While the lighthouse is not open to public access, visitors enjoy excellent views from boat tours departing Bar Harbor or from the shores of Mount Desert Island.
Best Photography: Early morning light or sunset cruises offer ideal conditions.
Nearby Attractions: Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain, and whale watching excursions.
