Fairport Harbor East Pierhead Light

Standing at the end of the breakwater in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, this classic pierhead lighthouse was built in 1875 to guide vessels into the Grand River harbor on Lake Erie. Its compact iron tower and attached fog signal building make it a striking example of Great Lakes maritime architecture. The lighthouse is no longer active and is not open to the public, so visitors cannot climb the tower. However, it remains a beloved photography subject — golden hour and winter ice formations create dramatic shots from the nearby pier. While visiting, explore the Fairport Harbor Marine Museum housed in the old main lighthouse, stroll the harbor beach, or grab fresh perch at a local lakeside restaurant.
