Hikers will find over 16 miles of trails winding through oak-hickory forests and open meadows, ranging from easy loops around Belmont Lake to more rugged paths along the ridgelines. The 117-acre lake anchors the park, offering fishing for largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish from the bank or a rented rowboat. A swimming beach opens in summer, giving families a refreshing break between trail outings.

Barkcamp’s campground features both electric and non-electric sites set among mature trees, with modern restrooms and showers nearby. For those who prefer a roof overhead, rent-a-camps and cabins provide a comfortable base for exploring the area. Equestrian campers get their own dedicated sites and access to horseback riding trails that loop through the park’s less-trafficked sections.

The park also maintains a pioneer village with restored log structures, offering a glimpse into Ohio’s settlement history. Seasonal programs bring the site to life with demonstrations and guided walks.

Visit in mid-October for peak fall foliage, or come in late spring when the trails are lush and the lake is calm. Barkcamp rewards those willing to slow down and wander.
