The 97,880-acre Eagletail Mountains Wilderness in Arizona is managed by the Bureau of Land Management.

Known for its striking geological features, including colorful rock formations and natural arches, the Eagletail Mountains Wilderness is a remote and pristine destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking solitude and adventure in the Arizona desert landscape. At a height of over 2,800 feet, Courthouse Rock rises abruptly from the desert floor, near the northern boundary of the the wilderness.

In 1990, it became part of the National Wilderness Preservation System established by the Wilderness Act of 1964. In wilderness, you can enjoy challenging recreational activities and extraordinary opportunities for solitude. Please follow the regulations in place for this area, and use Leave No Trace techniques when visiting to ensure protection of its unique natural and experiential qualities.

Carry an ample supply of water with you since many areas have inadequate or unpurified water sources.
