Blackrock Canyon Recreation Site serves as the gateway to the Chinese Peak – Blackrock Rock Trail System, offering over 40 miles of interconnected trails across Idaho‘s high desert terrain. The BLM-managed site accommodates diverse trail users, from OHV enthusiasts and mountain bikers to equestrians and hikers on non-motorized routes.

The recreation site features two trailhead parking areas, with the lower lot equipped with an ATV loading ramp. Facilities include sheltered picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Dispersed camping is permitted on adjacent BLM lands, though the site itself functions primarily as a day-use trailhead.

The trail system winds through sagebrush steppe and canyon country, providing opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. Interpretive programs are occasionally available through the local BLM field office.

Access roads are typically passable for standard vehicles, though conditions vary seasonally. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable riding and hiking temperatures, while summer months can bring intense heat to the exposed terrain. Hunters and OHV users should check current regulations, as seasonal restrictions may apply. Water is not available on-site.
