Silver Falls State Park is Oregon’s largest state park, spanning over 9,000 acres in the foothills of the Cascade Range east of Salem. The best time to visit is late spring through early fall for comfortable hiking conditions, though winter brings the most dramatic waterfall flows after heavy rains. Weekday visits year-round offer a quieter experience. Expect well-maintained trails with moderate elevation changes — sturdy footwear and a rain layer are essential in any season.
