Santee State Park sits on the western shore of Lake Marion, South Carolina’s largest lake, spreading across 2,500 acres of Orangeburg County. The park is best known for its waterfront cabins—ten pier-mounted cabins perched directly over the lake, offering the rare experience of falling asleep to water lapping beneath your floor.

Lake Marion dominates the experience here. Camping options are generous—174 sites spread across two campground areas, many with full hookups and direct lake views. The pier cabins and 20 rondette-style lakeside cabins book up fast, especially in spring and fall.

Visit between March and May or September and November for mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Summers are hot and humid but ideal for swimming and kayaking. Winter brings excellent bird watching as migratory species settle along the lake.
