Spring wildflower season, typically mid-April through May, draws botanists and casual hikers alike, as the mountain harbors an unusual diversity of plant species thanks to its north-facing slopes and sheltered coves. Fall foliage peaks in mid-October and transforms the ridgeline into a corridor of gold and crimson. Summer hiking is rewarding but humid, and winter offers solitude along the quieter stretches.
