The annual International Tarpon Rodeo, held every July, has been a Grand Isle tradition since 1928. Even if you don’t fish, the pier is worth a visit at sunset.

Beyond the water, the park features nature trails through coastal marshland where birders spot roseate spoonbills, brown pelicans, and migrating neotropical songbirds — especially during the spring fallout in April when exhausted birds make landfall after crossing the Gulf. The observation tower provides sweeping views of the island and surrounding wetlands.
