Roanoke River Light

Standing in the Albemarle Sound of North Carolina, the Roanoke River Light has guided mariners since 1867. This screwpile lighthouse is one of the few surviving examples of its type on the East Coast, making it a notable piece of maritime heritage. The light remains active as a navigational aid, though the structure is not open to the public and cannot be climbed.
Best viewed and photographed from the water, golden hour provides stunning reflections off the sound. Charter boats from Edenton offer excellent vantage points.
