Point No Point Light
Point No Point · Washington
Standing guard over the Chesapeake Bay since 1905, Point No Point Light is a caisson-style lighthouse built to mark the dangerous shoal where the Potomac River meets the bay. Its distinctive hexagonal design and exposed water location make it one of Maryland’s most photogenic lighthouses. The light remains active as a navigational aid, though the structure is not open to the public. Best viewed and photographed by boat, the lighthouse is stunning during golden hour, when warm light reflects off the surrounding water. Nearby attractions include the Calvert Cliffs, Solomon’s Island, and the Calvert Marine Museum. Charter boats from the area offer trips for closer views of this enduring Chesapeake landmark.
