Natchez Light — Natchez, Mississippi

Built in 1828, the Natchez Light stands as one of Mississippi’s earliest navigational beacons, guiding steamboats along the lower Mississippi River during the golden age of river commerce. The modest brick tower served as a critical aid to navigation until it was deactivated, and it remains one of the few surviving antebellum lighthouses in the Deep South.

The lighthouse is not open to the public and cannot be climbed, but it can be viewed and photographed from nearby. Golden hour and late afternoon offer the best light against the river backdrop.

While visiting, explore the nearby Natchez National Historical Park, the historic downtown bluff, and the iconic antebellum homes along the Great River Road.
