Fond du Lac Light

Fond du Lac Light

Wisconsin

Fond du Lac Light stands at the southern tip of Lake Winnebago in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Built in 1933, this modest steel tower replaced earlier navigational aids that guided vessels across Wisconsin’s largest inland lake. The light remains active, helping boaters navigate the lake’s sometimes treacherous southern shallows. Though not open to the public for climbing, the lighthouse is easily viewed and photographed from the lakefront. Golden hour on clear autumn evenings offers the best photography, with the tower silhouetted against Lake Winnebago’s wide horizon. Nearby, visitors can explore Lakeside Park with its vintage carousel and small zoo, stroll the downtown historic district, or follow the Lake Winnebago shoreline north toward Oshkosh.
