Corpus Christi Light, built in 1859, served as a vital navigational aid along the Texas Gulf Coast. The lighthouse guided mariners through Aransas Pass and into Corpus Christi Bay during the busy coastal trade era. It witnessed the Civil War, when Confederate forces damaged it to hinder Union navigation, and was later restored to service.
