Absecon Light

Absecon Light

New Jersey

Rising above Atlantic City’s inlet neighborhood, Absecon Lighthouse has guided mariners along the New Jersey coast since 1857. Designed by George Meade — who later commanded Union forces at Gettysburg — it ranks among the tallest lighthouses in the United States. The brick tower features a striking exterior and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic City skyline and coastline.

The lighthouse is currently closed to public access, so visitors cannot climb the tower. The surrounding grounds and exterior still make for excellent photography, particularly during golden hour when the warm light contrasts against the brick facade.

Nearby, visitors can explore the Atlantic City Boardwalk, Steel Pier, and the city’s famous casinos, all within walking distance.
