Versailles to Midway Road

Kentucky

6.3 miles

Winding through the heart of Kentucky’s Bluegrass Region, the Versailles to Midway Road delivers six miles of pure horse country splendor. This state-designated scenic byway connects two of Woodford County’s most charming towns along a corridor lined with pristine white plank fences, centuries-old stone walls, and rolling pastures where thoroughbreds graze beneath towering hardwoods.

The drive passes some of Kentucky’s most storied horse farms, their manicured grounds stretching toward gentle hills in every direction. In spring, the landscape erupts in vivid green, dogwoods bloom along fence lines, and newborn foals test their legs in the fields. Autumn brings a golden canopy over the roadway that photographers find irresistible.

Start in historic Versailles and take your time heading toward Midway, a railroad town with a walkable main street full of shops, galleries, and locally owned restaurants worth a stop. The drive itself takes only fifteen minutes, but allow at least an hour to pull over for photos and soak in the views.

Late April through early June offers the most stunning scenery, though fall color season runs a close second. This is the Kentucky postcard you came looking for.
