Fort Yargo State Park sits on 1,816 acres in Winder, Georgia, about an hour northeast of Atlanta in Barrow County. The park takes its name from a log fort built in 1792 by settlers for protection against Creek and Cherokee raids — and you can still visit the original fort structure today, one of the few surviving frontier-era forts in Georgia.
