Bethany Reservoir State Recreation Area

Tucked into the eastern edge of Alameda County near the small town of Byron, Bethany Reservoir State Recreation Area offers 609 acres of open water and rolling grasslands where the San Joaquin Valley meets the Diablo Range foothills. The reservoir itself is a key node in the California Aqueduct system, and its consistent water levels make it one of the most reliable spots in the East Bay for wind-powered water sports.
