Corpus Christi Light

Corpus Christi Light

Texas Gulf · Texas

Corpus Christi Light, built in 1859, served as a vital navigational aid along the Texas Gulf Coast. The lighthouse guided mariners through Aransas Pass and into Corpus Christi Bay during the busy coastal trade era. It witnessed the Civil War, when Confederate forces damaged it to hinder Union navigation, and was later restored to service.

Though no longer active and closed to public access, the lighthouse remains a notable piece of Texas maritime heritage. Photographers find the best light during golden hour, when the warm coastal glow highlights the historic tower against Corpus Christi Bay.

Nearby, visitors can explore the Texas State Aquarium, the USS Lexington Museum, and the scenic Padre Island National Seashore.
