Built in 1856 on Georgia’s remote Sapelo Island, this historic range light guided vessels through Doboy Sound alongside its rear range partner. The compact brick tower served as part of a navigational pair, helping mariners align their approach through the tricky coastal waterways. Decommissioned and no longer active, the lighthouse stands as a quiet relic of Georgia’s maritime heritage.

The light is not open to the public for climbing, and access to Sapelo Island itself requires a state-operated ferry from Meridian. Photography is best during golden hour on clear fall mornings when marsh light is soft and dramatic.
