Goldburg Wilderness Study Area spans rugged alluvial foothills in central Idaho, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The terrain rises dramatically from 6,100 feet on the western slopes to 8,800 feet along the eastern boundary, offering varied landscapes of sagebrush-grass communities interspersed with Douglas-fir stands.

Dispersed camping is permitted throughout the WSA, allowing visitors to establish primitive campsites away from designated areas. No developed campgrounds exist within the study area, so bring all water, supplies, and pack-out provisions. Hiking trails wind through the foothills, suitable for day hikes or multi-day backcountry trips. The area accommodates horseback riding on established routes and offers quality hunting opportunities during appropriate seasons.

Wildlife viewing and photography are productive activities, particularly during early morning and evening hours when animals move through the sagebrush flats. Access requires high-clearance vehicles on BLM roads, and conditions vary seasonally.

Visit late spring through early fall for the most accessible conditions. Summer brings warm days but cooler temperatures at higher elevations. Check current road conditions with the local BLM field office before departure, as access routes may be rough or impassable after weather events.
