Limekiln Trail provides access to the Judith Mountains through a BLM-maintained trailhead located near Lewistown, Montana. The trail system accommodates hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders across terrain managed cooperatively with private landowners.

The primary route to Lewistown Overlook covers approximately 4.5 miles round-trip, offering elevated views of the surrounding landscape. A longer option leads to Burnett Peak and New Year Peak for those seeking more distance. Note that portions of the trail may be closed due to storm damage from downed timber—check current conditions with the BLM Lewistown Field Office before heading out.

Facilities at the trailhead include a vault toilet and vehicle parking. Dispersed camping is generally permitted on BLM lands in this area, though visitors should verify boundaries since private land intermingles with public parcels. Pack out all waste and practice Leave No Trace principles.

Wildlife viewing opportunities exist throughout the Judith Mountains, particularly during early morning and evening hours. The best seasons for visiting are late spring through early fall when trails are clear of snow and accessible for all user types.
