Passamaquoddy Lighthouse(Used in the 1977 movie Pete’s Dragon)
California
Built in 1976 on the rugged Central California coast in Los Osos, this iconic lighthouse was constructed as a film set for Disney’s 1977 classic *Pete’s Dragon*. Though not a traditional navigational aid, it remains one of the most recognized lighthouses in American pop culture. The tower is still standing and active, though it is not open to the public and visitors cannot climb it.
The best photography opportunities come during golden hour, when the coastal light dramatically frames the tower against the Pacific. Nearby attractions include Montaña de Oro State Park, Morro Bay and its landmark Morro Rock, and the charming shops and restaurants of San Luis Obispo, just minutes inland.
