Perched on Sugar Island in Michigan’s St. Marys River, Middle Lake George Light served as a vital navigational aid guiding vessels through the narrow channels connecting Lakes Superior and Huron. The modest tower marked treacherous shoals that posed dangers to freighters traversing one of the busiest waterways in the Great Lakes system.
