Standing on the shores of Lake Minatare near Scottsbluff, Nebraska, this unusual inland lighthouse was built in 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. Unlike coastal beacons, it was constructed purely for aesthetic purposes, making it one of America’s few landlocked lighthouses.

The stone tower remains an active navigational aid for boaters on the reservoir. While the lighthouse is not open to public climbing, its picturesque setting offers excellent photography opportunities, particularly at golden hour when the tower reflects beautifully on calm waters.
