Originally developed as a premier field trial venue for pointing dog competitions, the area has evolved into a versatile recreation destination set among the rolling Sandhills terrain of the state’s midlands.

The landscape here is distinctly South Carolina Sandhills — longleaf pine savannas, wire grass understory, and sandy trails that wind through gently undulating terrain. It’s a landscape shaped by prescribed fire management, giving it an open, park-like feel that’s ideal for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
