Keystone State Park

Nestled along the shores of Keystone Lake in Tulsa County, Keystone State Park offers 714 acres of rolling terrain where eastern Oklahoma’s Cross Timbers ecosystem meets open water. Established in 1966, the park has quietly served as a go-to escape for Tulsa-area residents looking to trade city noise for lake breezes without a long drive.

Keystone Lake itself is the main draw — a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Arkansas and Cimarron Rivers that stretches over 25,000 acres. Anglers come for striped bass, white bass, catfish, and crappie, with spring and fall producing the best catches. The lake’s coves and open stretches also make it popular for boating, water skiing, and swimming when summer temperatures climb into the 90s.

On land, the park’s trails wind through post oak and blackjack oak woodlands, offering solid options for hiking and mountain biking. Wildlife watchers should keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and the occasional bald eagle near the waterline during winter months.

The park provides a range of outdoor activities suited to day visitors and extended stays alike. Picnic areas, playgrounds, and disc golf round out the options for families.

Spring and fall deliver the most comfortable conditions — mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and excellent fishing. Summer brings peak lake activity but also Oklahoma heat. Winter stays mild enough for hiking, and the bare canopy opens up lake views you won’t get the rest of the year.
