Great Plains State Park

The park’s defining feature is its relationship with Tom Steed Reservoir, a 6,400-acre lake that anchors nearly every activity here. Anglers target largemouth bass, catfish, and walleye along the rocky shoreline, while the open water draws boaters, kayakers, and swimmers during warmer months. On land, hiking trails wind through mixed-grass prairie dotted with mesquite and prickly pear, offering wide-open views that stretch to the Wichita Mountains on the horizon.
