Swimming at the sandy beach is the main draw on hot summer days, and the shallow entry makes it ideal for families with young children. Bring a canoe or kayak to explore the lake’s quieter coves, where you might spot great blue herons, loons, or the occasional beaver. Fishing yields bass, pickerel, and perch for those with a New Hampshire license.

Several miles of hiking trails loop through the surrounding forest, offering easy to moderate walks through bogs, over granite ledges, and past wildflower meadows. The trails connect to broader networks in the Monadnock Region for those wanting a longer outing.

Visit mid-September through early October for peak foliage, or come in July for the warmest lake swimming. Weekdays offer the most elbow room year-round.
